Emergency Communications
In the face of the nation's heightened concern over possible terrorist attacks, Washington College's Office of Public Safety would like all members of the campus community to be aware of our communication procedure in case of a local, state or national crisis.
In the case of a local, regional or national emergency that could affect our campus community, communications, updates and instructions will be sent to our students and employees through the campus' email system and via postings to the College's website, www.washcoll.edu. Parents and others concerned about the welfare of our students will also be directed to the website for updates or to messages posted at our campus' main phone number, 410-778-2800 or 800-422-1782.
If there is a power failure, all are asked to tune their radios to either FM 90.5 WKHS or to AM 1530 WCTR where information and instructions pertinent to the Washington College community will be announced. If necessary, our campus is small enough to allow our Public Safety staff to walk to each residence hall and building to provide emergency information and directions to students and employees.
As individuals and citizens, we can all take steps to better prepare ourselves in the case of an emergency. The College encourages all students and employees to make themselves familiar with emergency preparedness and response procedures recommended by local, state, and national agencies. That information is available through the following websites:
